Margaret Yeung is a contemporary ink artist and sustainability sculptor from Hong Kong, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Fine Art from the RMIT University in Australia. She is the chairman of the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society, an adjunct instructor at CUSCS of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an exhibition curator. Her artworks focus on blending ink painting with technology, integrating traditional and contemporary ideas, and using discarded materials and self-developed natural pigments to reinterpret the aesthetics of Chinese landscape painting. This includes hand-painted landscapes from an aerial perspective, demonstrating how technology alters our understanding of landscapes; using computer software to rearrange, enhance, and modify her hand-painted landscapes, which are then transformed into digital landscapes; and creating three-dimensional landscapes that evoke the tropes of literati painting, but which use collected dead tree trunks and discarded industrial materials such as copper wires and epoxy to express her concern for our planet and its environment. Her artworks have been collected by various art museums, including the Shandong Museum, Weifang Museum, and Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum. |
