Sophie Yu was born in Hong Kong in 1994. She graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with a major in Chinese painting in 2017. Subsequently, she pursued a master's degree in the Graduate School of the Chinese National Academy of Arts under the guidance of Mr Ho Ka Ying. Her artworks have been exhibited in many places and are popular with Hong Kong collectors.

‘Mei Hao Yue Ye’

 

‘Jin Zhu Sui Yue’

Chinese art emphasizes ‘having an idea in the mind before starting writing or painting’ and ‘negative space,’ ideas which are much like the connections between humans and nature.

Golden bamboo, a cat, and butterflies;
In this painting, there is an additional cat quietly sitting in the bamboo forest, with several butterflies fluttering around it. The cat symbolizes a kind of tranquility and inner balance, reminding us that even in our busy lives, we should find time to get along with nature. As we spend time with our pets, so we can also get closer to our nature.
